The quality of work life (QWL), relates the satisfaction between the Work, achievements and personal development achieved by the workers. Internationally there are no many tools that help us to evaluate the QWL, so the aim of this study was to validate a questionnaire to measure it.
Methods
The questionnaire was validated CVT-GOHISALO in a sample of health workers in Mexico. Validation was carried out in three phases, in the first one; items were developed based on a theoretical framework that was used for the validation of content and construct, supplemented by consulting experts. In the second phase the instrument was applied to the sample, using the Goldberg’s General Health Questionnaire (GHQ 28) as external criterion for validation criteria and in the last stage, analyzed the data to complete the studies of reliability and validity the instrument was performed.
Results
The final questionnaire was composed of 74 items in seven dimensions. Factor analysis was performed with the method of principal axes to seven dimensions, obtained relevant to the validity of the questionnaire was 0.68 Validation criteria, with the GHQ-28 as external criterion, relating the risk of disease associated with the lowest mental QWL. The reliability of the instrument was 0967, it was measured with Cronbach's alpha coefficient.
Discussion
The CVT-GOHISALO questionnaire met the psychometric properties to measure the QWL in this population, through the process of validating content, construct and criterion. Because of its characteristics it is potentially useful to be used in other types of workers with different cultural, economic and working conditions. Its measurement provides a basis to develop projects for QWL.
