Current Brazilian legal requirements don''''''''t recongnize health hazards or risk based management approach. However, a recent document proposed by the Brazilian Association of Technical Norms (ABTN NBR 18801) raised this discussion in Brazil.
Even not being a legal requirement, NBR 18801 set some objectives such as eliminating or controlling unacceptable health and safety risks.
In our opinion, that may be a good start to implement risk based management systems in our country.
