Private workers receive attention in occupational health in Brazil, but public workers do not yet. A project of Occupational Health Program aiming at education public workers from government, was realized from 1999 to 2006. A multi-professional team was organized and the program was implemented among 15000 workers. The results are presented in this paper.

Results
Among 33 schools, more than 50%of the safety requirements are not in compliance with the law. Electrical installations problems were the most frequent ones. The lighting of the classrooms did not comply with the minimum legal requirements in more than 25% of the 67 schools. 836 teachers were examined by physicians. The most frequent problems were arterial hypertension(18,8%), allergic rhinitis(4,3%), dysphonia(3,6%) and depression(3,0%), Sick leave of more than 90 days was found in a group of 105 teachers. The mental problems were the most frequent ones (51,4%). Important differences in opinion and decision were found between the official medical expertise service and the multi-professional evaluation team. Among 71 cases, only in 25% both medical expertise service and multi-professional team were in agreement. A survey among 1272 teachers of 70 schools identified that shouting, environmental noise and chalk dust are the mainly occupational problems among teachers with dysphonia. Among 1642 teachers of 42 schools, weight(47,3%), arterial pressure(13,7%), Glycaemia(7,0%) were above normal values. Among them, only 63,4% of the women say that they did the Papanicolaou Test in the previous year. The teachers who worked at public schools had more medical leaves.
Discussion
Concerning the health of the workers, it is better, to create one structure which will be similar to the Specialized Services of Safety and Health which is compulsory in the country for the private enterprises.
