Introduction
The concept of stress was created 50 years with Selye that defines it as a typical reaction of adaptation to a physical and psychological stimuli: the term is associated with a negative emotional reaction type, characterized by a reading of the environmental conditions as elements limiting or outside the control of individuals. Faced with a situation of physical or emotional overload, represented by an imbalance between the demands received from the external environment and the ability to control and manage situations, the ability to control is no longer functional. Over the years, the concept is developed and investigated by several authors including Karasek from the point of view business. Karasek (1979) defines it according to the relationship between high demand and low job decision-making freedom that cause a state of perceived job stress. The fenomenon of work-related stress is a factor that an affect the heanth of the workers.

Methods
We administerd 100 healt professionals of private hostitals in Pescara with the Italian version of the Karasek’s test and anxiety’s test. Other than specific tests we analywed some immune functions as lymphocyte subpopulation and NK T in vitro cytotoxicity.

Results
Results show that the investigated workers have levels of anxiety and stress higher than the control group. Correlated with the the state of anxiety and stress was a reduced level of NK cytotoxic activity.

Discussion
The reduction of some immune function correlated with anxiety and stress can cause workers to be more sensitive to pathology related to decreased immune function: infections and cancer.
