Introduction
Vision is an essential function for a normal life. Quality of work is linked within quality of vision that is influenced by lighting conditions and working demands. Occupational exposure implies high solicitation of visual function in many workplaces.

Methods
We analyzed lighting quality and observed the professional activity in four workplaces, in Timisoara city: VDT office, electrotechnics, clothing industry, mechanics. 
We evaluated the quantity and the quality of lighting conditions in theases workplaces. 
The vision status was evaluated by a questionnaire, clinical examination and visiotest screening. Mean age of the workers was 37 years. 

Results

Visual problems were find at more than 60% of the workers. 20% of them were first diagnosed at the moment of our study. We find some pathological aspects that conduct at a limitation of working capacity. New correction glasses were prescribed for 23% of them. There is compulsory to use adequate glasses in some activities. 

Discussion
Visual sufferings caused by working solicitations of the eye are today’s reality. 
Lighting conditions are an important factor, but duration of exposure, type of activity and initial status must be considered, too. 
Workplace health promotion actions are needed and a good hygiene of vision must be provided.
