Introduction
Varices and other circulatory problems in the legs acutes with a serial of symptoms causing the varicose syndrome that affects an important part of general population; but specially women. This ill is often caused by labor causes, mainly when the work process requires many hours standing. This is the case of nursing personnel.

Methods
A transversal, observational and descriptive study using a questionnaire instrument oriented to obtain the main data: age, gender, number of pregnancies, contraceptive methods, weight, size, the presence of Varices, and specially the time spent standing on their feet.

Results
The 51% of the night shift nursing personnel remains standing 12 hours (the whole shift); from all female nurses, 64% has Varices and males only 33% has it. At the end of the shift, 76% reports fatigue before edema, heaviness and lower members’ drowsiness. 61% of the nursing staff knows the complication symptoms. Most of the nurses have overweight and perhaps cardiac alterations caused by the night shift. Fatigue, pain, heaviness, edema and legs drowsiness are the most common symptoms at the end of the shift.

Discussion
The nursing professional is responsible for its self-caring; for applying prevention and protective measurements or even corrective ones, among they are: lowing the risk for varices appearance in low extremities; varicose syndrome and vein thrombosis. Despite the fact they know the process and its complications, is notorious the lack of preventive actions. The physical training and compression stockings should be used as a permanent practice.
