This abstract will update the status of research on cancer risk among U.S. semiconductor workers. Initial studies of U.S. semiconductor workers focused on adverse reproductive outcomes. This was because of early studies that observed an increased risk of spontaneous abortion among fabrication room workers. Reproductive outcomes were also an appropriate outcome because of the young age of the industry, the large number of female workers and the lack of adequate latency to observe many cancer outcomes. The industry has now matured and has an older workforce and enough latency to observe increased risk for many cancers. Results will be presented for a recent national study of cancer outcomes among workers at several semiconductor manufacturers in the U.S.
