A WHO Global Approach of Healthy Workplaces

Within the framework of the WHO Global Plan of Action on Workers Health, WHO developed a healthy workplace model.  The model encompasses principles of occupational health and safety and health promotion. A healthy workplace programme aims at creating a healthy, supportive and safe working environment; ensures that health promotion and protection become an integral part of management practices; fosters work- and life styles conducive to health; ensures organizational participation; and at the same time extends positive impacts to all workers and in some case to the local and surrounding community.
