  • HOUSEHOLD WASTE COLLECTION-Risk of accident with sharp-cutting bio hazardous materials.pdf (1.9 MB)
  • Introduction
Workers involved in the collection of household waste belong to one of the largest accidents employment sectors. Vulnerability is also reflected in the lack of primary prevention through mandatory immunization for all workers, which is not received in a systematic way of joining the company, not even requested as prerequisite. This issue is a serious debate, as companies rely on regulations that no legal obligation be put on the employer to provide the vaccination. Thus we begin a vicious circle. If the worker does do it, either by ignorance or lack of resources, then this would, in the long term, produce days off work

    Methods
The following research was conducted based on the production of statistics which was based on data from accidents with sharp cutting materials in household waste collectors, which were submitted during the period of 2 years. The figures are very high, as well as the absence of prevention and lack of awareness.

    Results
The goal is a radical change in both awareness on the part of the whole society, the risk involving our own waste, aswell as by employers, resurfacing the value of life and healthof workers by understanding each other as a unique and irreplaceable human being

    Discussion
The idea of this paper is to place focus on the importance and danger of the occupational health issue in Argentina and the minimal attention that is offered at both the corporate and state level.
