  • In this Special Session, different models of Occupational Health Administration in countries of Latin America are analyzed.  Dr. Veronica Herrera (ICOH NS for Chile) refers to the Chilenean Model, the oldest in Latin America, established in 1968, carried out by private or public organizations. Dr. Cristina Pantano (ICOH NS for Argentina) introduces the private Argentinean Model, established in 1996, carried out by the "ARTs" ("Aseguradoras de Riesgos del Trabajo"). Dr. Carlos Campos (President of the Brazilian Association on OH) explains that the Brazilian legal requirements don''t recongnize health hazards or risk based management approach. Dr. Rafael Rodriguez Cabrera from Mexico, explains the complex public Mexican model. Finally Dr. Julietta Rodriguez Guzmán (ICOH NS for Colombia) presents the Colombian model based in the fusion of the OH System and Worker''''s Compensation System. We conclude that different models of Administration of Occupational Health and Occupational Hazards coexist in Latin America, and it's almost impossible adopting a regional unified model because the social and political reality.
