  • Introduction: Prevention of Enzyme Sensitization in detergent manufacturing involves a multidisciplinary approach to include proper design of enzyme handling systems, ventilation control, personal protective use, enzyme handling procedures, and medical monitoring.    

    Methods: A thorough discussion of the basic toxicology of enzymes and domains of control will be presented, with emphasis on the lessons learned through experience in improving enzyme hygiene control.    

    Result: The participant will have a basic understanding of the toxicology of enzymes. They will also understand all aspects of the basic control program to avert enzyme allergy.    

    Discussion: The approach used can be applied to the prevention of enzyme allergy in other industries besides detergent manufacturing.
